Our nursing scholarship was established in 2021. This scholarship will be awarded to a Veteran from any branch of service currently working at Dublin Methodist or Grady Memorial planning to attend nursing school or to further their nursing education. This scholarship can be used for nursing school tuition or a certification. Our foundation awards this scholarship to a new Veteran every year.
In 2023, Michelle Topetzes was awarded the 3rd and Goal Foundation nursing scholarship!
Learn more about Michelle:
"I started college at The Ohio State University in 1998 and was in the Navy ROTC program there. I had a major of pre-nursing at the time but like most students I changed my major to Criminology. During that time, I switched from the Navy to the Marine Corps. I also ended up enlisting in the Marine Corps Reserve and went to bootcamp in June 2001 and was just completing basic training at Parris Island when September 11th occurred. I was attached to the reserve unit in Dayton (Military Police Company C) after finishing training. Originally, I was trained as an Administrative Clerk but once I got to my unit, I was cross trained as Mortuary Affairs. I completed my bachelor's degree at OSU in August of 2004 and received an honorable (medical) discharge from the Marine Corps in September of 2004. I ended up starting a family and landing a career in IT after college. I have worked for an IT consulting company for over 15 years but always had a passion for nursing. So, I went back to school once my children got older at Columbus State Community College and earned my Associates Degree in Nursing in 2022. I received my RN license in July of 2022 and started working at OhioHealth in August of 2022. In October 2022 I started working on my BSN at Ohio University and I am on the path to graduate in May 2023. I have been married for 20 years and my husband is also a Marine Corps Veteran who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. We have two children, Abigail and Isabella."
